Austin, T.X. – Tomorrow, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) will join community leaders and Foundation families to officially open Foundation Communities’ newest and largest Prosper Center with a press conference at one of the busiest times of the year for the organization—tax time—and share how Central Texans can get free help right now to file their returns and claim the second half of their expanded Child Tax Credit and other credits, including the full Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

Washington, D.C. — Just now, following advocacy from U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), U.S. Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), and Congressmen Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-N.J.-09), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that it will halt the planned 2024 closure of the IRS Austin Tax Processing Center. This center is one of three remaining IRS facilities which process paper returns. Maintaining the Austin facility will better allow the agency to support the workforce needed to process 10 million outstanding paper returns from last year, as well as new returns from this season.

Washington, D.C. – As the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates and creates new health care challenges for people with disabilities, House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Chairman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) will hold a hearing, “Bridging Health Equity Gaps for People with Disabilities and Chronic Conditions,” today, Thursday, February 3 at 1 P.M. CST/2 P.M. EST.

Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chair of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, and Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) introduced the Stop the Wait Act, to end the harmful “suffering periods” during which Americans with serious disabilities are denied access to Medicare.
