October 1, 2025
With complete federal government control, Republicans control this government shutdown. I do not believe we should yield to Trump’s demands without getting some protection for all those about to have their health care access to a physician denied or seriously impaired.

“We are horrified at the shooting that has taken place at the ICE processing facility in Dallas and our prayers are with the victims and the first responders. We unequivocally condemn all forms of violence and urge everyone to refrain from rhetoric that fans the flames—from all sides."

Washington, D.C. —Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas), founder and Co-Chair of the bipartisan Congressional Musicians’ Caucus, announced Representative Ron Estes (R-Kansas) as the new Co-Chair to help elevate the cultural and economic impact of music and the arts on Americans’ daily lives.

Washington, D.C.—As President Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to roll back regulations to address climate change and protect public health, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin), a member of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), led most Texas Democratic Congressmembers this week in opposing EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s proposal to eliminate any federal ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and resultant protections.

Washington, D.C.—Since May, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) has sought information about the impact on the safety of American families from intensified weather events following President Trump’s slashing of the federal workforce and hiring freezes at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service (NWS). The first impact appears to have been felt with regard to a catastrophic Texas flood over the July 4 weekend that took more than 130 lives.

Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin), Ranking Member of the House Ways & Means Health Subcommittee, spoke on the House Floor to oppose a rule change that protects the Trump Administration from complying with his formal Resolution of Inquiry (ROI) demanding all documents relating to a secretive partnership with Palantir to build a vast database on every American. Reportedly, this is set to include confidential taxpayer, identity, wage, child support, bank account, student loan, health and medical, and financial data gathered from the Social Security Administration and the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Treasury, as well as records seized by the so-called Department of Government Efficiency.

“Instead of lowering the temperature, Trump is spiking it. We should be united in rejecting violence, but this partisan, one-sided approach only adds fuel to the fire. Trump and his minions, who refuse to even post a plaque honoring the law enforcement heroes who stopped the January 6 insurrection, regularly demonize their adversaries and embrace violence. This adds to the danger of more political violence as our democracy faces growing peril. After promoting conspiracy theories about Democrats, most Republicans still insist on protecting Trump by refusing to even vote for full disclosure of the Epstein files. Ending the cycle of violence calls for every American to recognize that violence is never the answer.”

Trump is taking a hatchet to chop up Austin and our state with the sole objective of maintaining his one-man rule. This is designed to eliminate accessibility, accountability, and a strong voice for our shared values.

July 22, 2025
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representatives Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, and Health Subcommittee member Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC) introduced bipartisan legislation to require Medicare Advantage (MA) to adequately reimburse health care providers for services offered to enrollees of these private plans. The Prompt and Fair Pay Act establishes a floor requiring MA plans to reimburse for all covered health care items and services at least what would have been paid under Medicare Parts A and B; plans and providers may continue to negotiate higher reimbursement rates. The legislation also establishes prompt payment rules for clean in-network claims, which are requirements that would mirror those under Medicare Part D.
