Austin, Texas—Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) honored 13 Austin students whom he nominated for our nation’s military service academies. In a highly competitive selection process, these students have been admitted to the U.S. Military, Air Force, and Naval Academies.

Washington, D.C. – As Congress considers reconciliation legislation, Representatives Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) and Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), along with Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee led their colleagues in writing to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, urging them to crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicare Advantage (MA) instead of forging ahead with cuts to Medicaid.

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) introduced the Stop Subsidizing Multimillion Dollar Corporate Bonuses Act to close a major loophole in current corporate tax law that uses taxpayer dollars to fund lavish pay packages. The bill would specifically end special tax breaks for publicly traded companies that deduct the cost of any multimillion-dollar bonus paid to executives.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Ranking Member Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) and Health Subcommittee member Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC) made a bipartisan request to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) for a detailed investigation and report on the vertical consolidation of Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAO) and its effect on Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) calculations.

“Trump’s declaration that he 'couldn’t care less' if his damaging tariffs cause prices to go up is a mighty big reversal from his promise to bring down prices ‘drastically.’ His ‘Liberation Day’ only liberates dollars from Americans’ wallets with the added danger of liberating many entrepreneurs from failed businesses as tariffs spike costs. Trump's tariffs for all represent a big tax hike for all Americans to pay. Americans will not be fooled by repeated Administration claims that tariffs are tax cuts.

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin), Ranking Member of the Ways & Means Health Subcommittee, joined by Representatives Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), and Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), led 74 lawmakers in calling on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to rein in wasteful taxpayer overpayments to Medicare Advantage (MA) plans and enact other reforms to protect consumers’ access to health care. Unlike Traditional Medicare, MA plans are administered by private insurers and have been found to be fraught with waste and abuse while sacrificing patient outcomes for higher corporate profit and threatening the overall solvency of Medicare.
