Washington, D.C. – Last night, the U.S. Senate passed U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett’s (D-TX) bipartisan Republic of Texas Legation Memorial Act (H.R. 3349) to pave the way for a commemoration of the Texas Legation in Washington, D.C., marking in our capital the chapter of Texas history when it was an independent nation. The House of Representatives passed Doggett’s bill in September. Following Senate passage, assisted by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), the legislation heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law this month.

Dec. 15 is the last day to choose a health plan on the federal health exchange known as healthcare.gov — a deadline many officials and experts believe will not be extended, despite the pandemic wreaking havoc on the U.S. economy and a strained health care system.

More than 18 percent of San Antonians under the age of 65 did not have health insurance as of last year, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
With the coronavirus pandemic ongoing, this means San Antonio families are more at risk for financial ruin should they get sick, Mayor Ron Nirenberg said during a press conference Tuesday to highlight local programs residents can utilize to help them sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Dec. 15 is the deadline for open enrollment.

Open enrollment for Affordable Care Act health insurance began on Nov. 1 – and ends Dec. 15. In a press conference on Monday, U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, Mayor Steve Adler, Council Member Greg Casar, Foundation Communities Executive Director Walter Moreau, and local musician Lesly Reynaga urged people to apply for health insurance in the short window they have, especially during COVID-19.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Chair of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, pressed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Operation Warp Speed leaders to clearly disclose details of and ensure the transparency, independent review, and affordable pricing for Regeneron’s COVID-19 antibody treatment—a treatment that has received over $500 million dollars in American taxpayer investments and is now under intense focus after President Trump’s treatment and praise. The guardrails against price-gouging on this treatment developed with taxpayer dollars, however, remain very opaque.
