Biden Executive Actions Take First Steps to Combat Climate Crisis, Signals Ability for Texas to Further Lead in Clean Energy
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) released the following statement regarding President Biden's executive actions to tackle the climate crisis, restore scientific integrity in government, and create jobs, which he just signed:
"Within minutes of his Inaugural Address, President Biden's response to the climate crisis was misrepresented and criticized by a number of Texas Republicans. Fossilized thinking about fossil fuels will only hurt the health of the Texas economy and the health of Texas families. With Texas already #1 in wind energy and advancing on solar energy, we can lead the way on more clean energy jobs or engage in massive resistance while our coast lines are overwhelmed, our communities damaged by intensified tornados, hurricanes and droughts, and our families increasingly infected with tropical diseases. To combat this climate crisis, we need strong legislative action to do not less, but much more, than the modest steps our President has undertaken."
