Beginning August 15, 2012, you may access the deferred action application online at www.uscis.gov. The following is a message from Rep. Lloyd Doggett on the importance of applying and the work that remains to be done. The Immigration Policy Center estimates that 226,700 young people in Texas will be eligible to apply.

"The tax code violates fundamental principles of equal justice…." "Exclusions, deductions, credits, and special rules make up tax expenditures that amount to over $1 trillion per year...."

Washington—Today, U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, introduced a bill that would extend the American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC) through 2013 to make college more affordable for millions of families. Without Rep. Doggett's bill, the AOTC would expire at year's end.

"I have lived through a terminal illness while struggling to get well and struggling to get and keep my insurance. I've been denied health insurance because of a pre-existing condition. I have lived this. It is very real for me. Today I breathe a little better—life is good because now I have hope."
