The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the 2014-15 School Year is now available. You can find instructions from the Department of Education on how to fill the application out by clicking on the link below. I successfully included language in the last Higher Education Reauthorization Act that allows individuals to automatically import their tax data from the IRS, reducing, at least a little, of this application’s previous complexity.

There are no more important issues in Congress than war and peace. Today, I spoke on the House floor in support of diplomacy with Iran. I believe that the sanctions, which I have consistently supported, worked to get Iran to the negotiating table. Now we need to allow our diplomats an opportunity to move from an interim agreement to a much more difficult comprehensive, permanent agreement to avoid nuclear weapons in Iran.

Rep. Doggett spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives today, calling on Speaker Boehner to bring comprehensive immigration reform to the floor. “The only thing preventing a bipartisan response to the immigration problems we have in this country is the unwillingness of the Speaker to permit a bipartisan vote on reform legislation.”
