U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett Named Child Welfare League of America Advocate of the Year
Washington—Today, U.S.Congressman Lloyd Doggett was presented with the Child Welfare League ofAmerica's Advocate of the Year award for his work on behalf of children asRanking Democrat of the Human Resources Subcommittee. Specifically, theLeague praised his work on the Protect Our Kids Act, a new law to establish anational commission to develop recommendations to reduce child abuse andneglect.
"This issue is particularly important tome," Rep.Doggett said. "Texas has the highest rate of child abuse and neglectfatalities in the nation. We are aware that there are so many, manychildren across the country who lose their lives or are permanently scarred byabuse from a caretaker.
