TOMORROW: Removing Barriers to Financial Aid & FAFSA Assistance For Students From AISD, College Forward, & Austin Chamber
Austin, T.X. – Tomorrow, Saturday, October 12, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett will join Austin ISD, The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, and College Forward to hold a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) event at Akins Early College High School. With FAFSA experts on hand, high school seniors and their families are invited to come and fill out the FAFSA to ensure that every student is applying for financial aid. In 2018, high school graduates missed out on $2.6 billion in free assistance for college because they did not submit a FAFSA.
Rep. Doggett will hold a press conference to share his ongoing work to simplify the FAFSA and unveil his new bill, the Equitable Student Aid Access Act, which both increases the number of students who qualify for the full Pell Grant and makes it easier for those students to access aid.
If you are interested in covering this event, please RSVP to Kate.Stotesbery@mail.house.gov.
