TODAY: East Austin Lions Club Memorial Day Commemoration
Austin, T.X. – Today, Saturday, May 29, at 10 AM to 11 AM, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett is joining the East Austin Lions Club in continuing their longstanding tradition of honoring our veterans with a Flag Raising Veterans Ceremony and short program. Congressman Doggett will be joining event organizer, Leon Hernandez, at the 900 block of East Cesar Chavez St. and Brushy St. The event will feature a gun salute ceremony by Tejanos In Action, followed by speakers reflecting on those we have lost in the horrors of war and how to recommit to honoring the memory of our fallen fellow citizens.
"Our Nation comes together on Memorial Day to remember those who served and sacrificed in the name of freedom," said Congressman Doggett. "I invite neighbors to attend this safe and socially-distanced gathering in honor of our veterans, for whom our debt is immeasurable."
