Rep. Doggett’s Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union

Washington, D.C.—Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) released the following statement regarding President Biden’s message to the American people on the progress our Nation has made over the last three years and the work that lies ahead to strengthen our democracy, protect fundamental rights, and ensure lasting national security: 

“President Biden offers strong advocacy for freedom at home and freedom abroad. At home, the freedom for women to make their own healthcare decisions—recognizing the warped worldview of a majority of House Republicans fixated on denying some families, who want a child from having one, while demanding others become unwilling parents. And, I have long worked to achieve the President’s goal of freeing working families and small businesses from bearing an unfair portion of the tax burden while wealthy tax cheats fail to pay their fair share. 

“The Trump-inspired House ‘Putin Appeasement Caucus’ is the only obstacle to our saving Ukraine and protecting our own security. We may be counting the days that Republicans have blocked essential aid, but Ukrainians must count the lives lost and the ammunition missing to repel Russian war crimes.”
