Washington, D.C. – Following U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) being named the Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee in the 118th Congress, he releases the following statement:

“Protecting Medicare from threats coming from some Republicans will be my top concern. Additionally, I believe there are opportunities for continuing bipartisan work with Vern Buchanan, such as building on initiatives we began last Congress to ensure the benefits of telehealth are delivered equitably while protecting both quality of care and taxpayer dollars from fraudsters. I will continue seeking to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare, including in private Medicare Advantage plans. Following last year’s approval of nominal prescription drug negotiation legislation, I will continue my longstanding efforts to rein in Big Pharma monopoly prices for all Americans.”

In the 117th Congress, he served as Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee. In the 118th, he will also serve on the Ways and Means Tax Subcommittee and on the House Budget Committee.
