Rep. Doggett: House Republicans continue to say “No we can’t,” to immigration reform
Full transcript below:
REP. DOGGETT: Mr. Speaker, I rise in support of young DREAMers, young people brought as children without proper documentation to this country. Young people willing to work hard to share in the American Dream; young people who have so much to offer America.
Today, 220 House Republicans said no to their dream by voting to terminate the program that allows them to stay legally. These Republicans, by their votes, said no to an essential element of comprehensive immigration reform at the very time the Senate is about to take up that measure.
To those Republicans who say, "No, we can't," we need more and more Americans who insist, "Yes, we can."
When we harness the energy of these youth, when we reform our immigration laws in a comprehensive way, we will create an America as good as their dream.
