Not Another Dime for Trump's Wretched Immigration Policy: Doggett on "No" Vote for Inadequate Senate Appropriations Bill
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee and senior member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement to accompany his "no" vote for the Senate Amendment to H.R. 3401, the Senate-passed border supplemental.
"Not another dime for Trump's wretched immigration policy. This bill lacks effective restraints on the lawless President who will administer these appropriations. Funds intended for toothbrushes and toddlers could be diverted to detention and deportation. A parent who mishandled their children, as this Administration has to those on our border, would be denied custody."
Yesterday, Rep. Doggett spoke in a House Budget Committee hearing on the ways that the Trump Administration's immigration policy sets us all back and on the long overdue need to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
