Austin, TX – On Monday, June 20th, at 10 AM, Rep. Doggett will join Robert Mace, Executive Director and Chief Water Policy Officer at The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment and a Professor of Practice in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Texas State University, as well as Meadows Center educators, to unveil the details of a brand-new project, the funding for which Rep. Doggett secured, to study the impact of climate change on Texas water and to create a publicly-available tool to help inform action to preserve water and protect the future of water in our state.

Standing beside Spring Lake—fed by our ecological jewel, San Marcos Springs—Rep. Doggett and these climate scientists will share the details of how this project can make progress to help preserve Texas’s water and push back on climate harm. In particular, they’ll discuss how critical preservation of our aquifers is for the future of Central Texas, which is undergoing climate change coupled with rapid development.

Reporters will also be invited to walk through the (well-air conditioned) Discovery Center with Rep. Doggett and the climate researchers, looking at learning tools showing students and others the impact that Central Texas water sources have on all aspects of life. Likewise, reporters can join a glass-bottom boat tour with Congressman Doggett, scientists, and educators, as they illustrate the crisis our water sources face from climate change. Reporters are invited to RSVP to kate.stotesbery@mail.house.gov(link sends email).
