More Election-Eve Gimmicks: Trump's Latest Misleading Executive Orders
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, reacted to more of President Trump's executive orders announced today in North Carolina:
"Trump is desperately peddling more phony executive orders as helpful as a Trump University diploma. His pre-existing condition decree offers no protection not already available through the existing Affordable Care Act (ACA) and no protection for millions of Americans with preexisting conditions if Trump is successful in packing the Supreme Court to destroy the ACA. Having broken one drug pricing pledge after another with one falsehood after another, Trump's new drug coupon scheme relies on money that he doesn't have for drugs with outrageous prices that he doesn't restrain. And, for many seniors, $200 will not cover a single month's medications because of price gouging Trump failed to stop in three-plus years of broken promises. His ‘surprise billing' order for those victimized by big ‘out-of-network' health care bills only directs his own bureaucrats to find a legislative solution for which they have shown little interest. Trump aims to make misleading headlines for his failing campaign, not a genuine difference for victims of price gouging."
