MONDAY: Press Conference on Start of Open Enrollment - Getting Central Texans Covered Amid Pandemic & Uninsured Crisis

Austin, T.X. – As Central Texas COVID-19 infections rise and the uninsured crisis deepens with continued unemployment, community leaders join together to promote Open Enrollment, when families can sign up to get Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverage. Despite attempts to eliminate the ACA and strip away protections for people with pre-existing conditions, it remains the law of the land—and so the health care marketplace is still available for those seeking insurance coverage for 2021. Open Enrollment lasts through December 15.

To get the word out—in both English and Spanish—about how people can get covered right now, Congressman Doggett will hold a virtual press conference this Monday, November 9 at 11:30 AM CST with Foundation Communities, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), Austin Mayor Steve Adler, and Council member Greg Casar.

What: Press conference via Zoom to equip Central Texans to enroll in ACA coverage during the open enrollment period and share free local resources so people can get covered now.

When: Monday, November 9, 2020, 11:30 AM CST

Who: Health Subcommittee Chairman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX)

Austin Mayor Steve Adler

Foundation Communities Executive Director Walter Moreau

Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) client Lesly Reynaga

Austin Council Member Greg Casar, who will deliver remarks in Spanish

Where: Press conference will be held via Zoom. Send any questions on registration to Kate Stotesbery(link sends email) in advance to ensure you are confirmed.
