Millions from American Rescue Plan Estimated for San Antonio-Area Higher Education
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-San Antonio) announced preliminary estimates of funding that show strong promise of real relief from the American Rescue Plan to help both Texas students and San Antonio-area higher education institutions.
"This is a true Rescue Plan for many students, who will receive at least half of this new federal funding for emergency financial aid grants to stay in school, as well as for our area universities, who have incurred substantial pandemic-related costs and revenue losses," said Congressman Doggett. "Our commitment to higher education reflects our support for both individual student achievement and our need for a highly educated, competitive workforce."
The preliminary Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) estimates from the American Rescue Plan to local universities are as follows:
- Texas A&M San Antonio $19,141,000
- St. Mary's $8,205,000
- UTSA $86,529,000
- Alamo Colleges District:
- San Antonio College $31,537,000
- Saint Philip's College $15,215,000
- Palo Alto College $14,933,000
- Northwest Vista College $27,149,000
- Northeast Lakeview College $7,799,000
- University of the Incarnate Word $15,010,000
- Our Lady of The Lake University $5,998,000
- Trinity University $4,239,000
Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund totals will be finalized by the Department of Education in coming days.
