Delivering for the People, for Democracy: Statement on Passage of Bill to Protect USPS

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), sponsor of the Delivering for America Act, released the following statement on its House passage a moment ago:

"Thanks to the 26 Republicans who voted for adequate mail service. How deeply disappointing that most Republicans are blindly following Trump in his desperate march to undermine democracy. This narrow bill mandating the January 2020 standard of postal service with the funds that Trump appointees requested is the very type of legislation that Trump once said he would sign. Today's rejection by Trump's Republican enablers makes clear their intent to sacrifice reliable postal service in order to impair voter participation."
