This Congress: All Lapdog & No Watchdog
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) spoke on the floor of the House today on his limitations amendment that would have prevented military bases from being turned into child internment camps, joined by 41 of his colleagues. But his effort was blocked in the Rules Committee on a party-line vote, as Republicans prevented its consideration on the floor of the House.
Rep. Doggett said, "All lapdog and no watchdog, for this Congress, even terrified toddlers torn from their mother's embrace are not beyond the limit…I will never yield to a President that knows no limits, and we will not yield in raising the issue of these children." Watch his speech here.
