Chairman Doggett Statement on Incomplete, Inadequate Vaccine Report

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee and vocal advocate for safe, affordable, COVID-19 vaccines and treatments, released the following statement on the report regarding distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine(link is external) released by the Trump Administration today:

"This incomplete checklist offers little detail on our progress and many lingering questions—warped speed creating warped results. No timelines, missing information on how we are securing the supply chain, and only a vague commitment to attempt to provide the vaccine for free to the very taxpayers who already paid to develop and manufacture it."

Earlier this month, after new concerns regarding political interference in the vaccine process, Rep. Doggett pressed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Operation Warp Speed for assurances regarding the critical need for caution, transparency, and independent review of any potential COVID-19 vaccine. That letter is available here.
