Assuring the Promise of Medicare: Statement on President Biden’s 2024 Budget

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin), Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee and senior member of the House Budget Committee, released this statement following the release of President Biden’s 2024 Budget:

“Very pleased that protecting Medicare is one of the four pillars of the President’s Budget, and that he has incorporated legislation that I have proposed to advance the solvency of Medicare. Without raising tax rates or reducing benefits, we could easily increase the solvency of Medicare to 2040—assuring its promise of comprehensive, affordable, quality health care for every American to age in dignity. The President’s Budget takes an additional, reasonable step to ensure the very top earners pay a fairer share to protect Medicare for even longer.”
