Austin to Receive $54 Million To Fuel More Green Public Transportation
Washington, D.C. – This afternoon, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) announces that Austin is receiving $54 million in federal funding this year through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA). He releases this statement:
“As the only Central Texas representative to support robust transit funding in both the Infrastructure and Appropriations bills, I’m so pleased that the bus will continue pulling into the station—with about $54 million coming to fuel our community’s public transportation needs, including the electrification of our buses and other climate-forward initiatives. With a 31% increase for Austin in funding levels prior to the passage of the infrastructure law, we are working in sync at both the local and federal levels to keep growing the public transportation options and reach that our growing community needs.”
