TODAY: Press Conference on Health Care Coverage Options for Texans in this Pandemic
Austin, T.X. – As the COVID-19 pandemic worsens and many Texans approach two months since job loss—the deadline to enroll in an ACA Marketplace plan for someone who lost their coverage when they lost their job—U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Chairman of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, will hold a virtual press conference this afternoon to share the steps consumers need to take (and when to take them) to get covered, local resources available, and important updates on Medicaid.
He will be joined by Foundation Communities to discuss free tools and resources to access coverage, by Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) to share updates for musicians and gig workers needing health care, and by Center for Public Policy Priorities (CPPP) to provide important updates on the state of Medicaid in Texas.
What: Press conference via Zoom to sound the alarm on the 60-day window since job loss to enroll in ACA coverage and share free local resources so people can get covered now.
