While some think our health care system that leaves so many without coverage is acceptable, the experience of our neighbors and the research strongly rebut this conclusion. Too many go uninsured or underinsured, too many, after years of paying premiums, find themselves with inadequate coverage once they become ill, and too many are rejected from coverage because of pre-existing conditions.  I explored some of these issues during a Ways and Means Committee hearing concerning the draft healthcare legislation.
